Until this assignment I had never been inside Liberty Heights Fresh on 1100 East and 1300 South. I figured that I knew what to expect was inside by word of mouth and local advertising over the years; a fresh vegetable and fruit market. When I stepped inside however, almost everything I thought that I knew was quickly thrown out the window.
Opened in 1992, Steve Rosenberg’s vision of offering quality produce soon expanded to include over 3,000 different product SKU’s including condiments, specialty breads and cheeses all with an emphasis on high quality, maintaining family traditions and in providing sustenance for farmers and growers interested in providing good food to the consumer.
What owner Steven Rosenberg and his team have accomplished is a slice of heaven on the East side. Every specialty product and hard to find recipe ingredient that you can imagine is tastefully presented in a wonder of retail magic, using every square inch of the building that results in a show place of condiments, sauces, noodles and organic vegetables and fruits.
Ask for a recommendation for a quick appetizer and Steve or his staff may point you to something right off the shelf. A bottled garlic spread, served with thin wafers of Italian bread looked too easy, but was guaranteed to please the appetite.
I honestly don't think price is a concern because you won't find this high of a quality, hand selected accoutrements anywhere else in the valley. Tucked inside you will find an olive orchard of variety in their expansive olive section, cheese, cheese, cheese in their large deli cheese section and even a small kitchen tucked in the back dishing out the most incredible specialty salads, entrees and even taking special orders upon request.
Everything is personally tested by Chief Eating Officer Steven Rosenberg himself and nothing gets past his veritable palette of enthusiasm for making Liberty Heights Fresh a great place to shop.
